Our Lectures

The purpose of the Children's Program is to educate our children on a cultural and religious level. We want to teach them African history and, more specifically, the Senegalese culture in the way our grandparents experienced it during their lifetimes. While doing so, we want them to have fun acquiring the genuine desire to learn, to do research, to love and care for all creatures. We want our children to learn how to be disciplined, how to be respectful and how to gain respect. We wish for them to have a safe and sound curiosity; curiosity that will lead them to learn something valuable and productive. Our ultimate goal is to assist them in achieving a higher education, become pious Muslim believers and be able to tackle any event impacting Muslims' daily lives

Originally the program was designed for children 5 to 17 years old, but to date, our most devoted participants are 2 and 3 years old. As a matter of fact, we have children whose parents threaten to not bring them to the Children's Program, if they do not behave at home. These children eagerly attend the program accompanied by parents or siblings, and are reluctant to miss a day.

We keep the children's interest in learning by engaging them in fun activities such as story telling, watching educational movies, and having power point presentations on a given topic. We always give them time to ask questions and give feedback from their own view points. They proudly raise their hands to showcase their knowledge of verses from the Quran, or episodes of the history or geography of Senegal, and happily sing songs together.

The Children's Program also offers arts and crafts classes, where the children use their creativity whether they are tie dying tee shirts or just making paper flowers or other small projects they enjoy.
